Owned by the Eakle family, Pope Valley Winery is located in the northeastern hills just beyond Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Our two estate vineyards, with a combined 80 planted acres at the winery and our Eakle Ranch vineyard, yield rich, distinctive wines characteristic of the terroir. Our wines showcase the mineral complexity of the soils - Pleasanton loam and Bressa Dibble complex. Pope Valley is the sub-region of Napa Valley with the greatest diurnal shift. This allows the grapes to hang on the vine long enough to ripen to their fullest potential, yet cool enough at night to develop complex varietal aromas. Pope Valley wines encompass the historic character that established Napa Valley as one of the premier growing regions in the world.

Tasting Notes: The ‘Faultline’ comes from the Eakle Ranch in the southeastern part of Pope Valley, the coldest area of the valley. Originally known as the Burgundy Winery and Olive Oil Factory, the winery is now owned by Sam Eakle and his children, David and Dianna Eakle Hawkins. Jean Hoefliger crafts this estate wine from Eakle Ranch. The 2022 vintage is an intensely flavoured wine, offering blackberry fruit infused with thyme, sage, and a hint of vanilla, alongside coffee bean aromatics. It is full-bodied, with mocha-rich, powerful tannins that have a fine-grained quality. The finish is rich and full-flavoured, showcasing dark cherry, crushed stones, and savoury wild herbs - a delicious wine with great structure.

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Faultline Red Blend Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of [...] Cabernet Sauvignon, [...] Merlot, [...] Malbec, [...] Petite Sirah [...]. Deep garnet-purple colored, notes of Chinese five spice, dusty soil, and mossy tree bark give way to a core of prunes and fruit cake. The big, rich, full-bodied palate is spicy and lightly chewy with a good amount of freshness, finishing on a dried berries note.
