The 2024 season experienced 27.75 inches of rainfall, closely aligning with the five-year average of 24 inches. A cool spring gave way to warmer temperatures, with heat gradually intensifying through May and June. The average daily temperatures in 2024 surpassed those of 2023, marking this year as a warmer vintage overall. In July, just before veraison, a heat spike helped manage vine vigor and accelerated flavor development.

Tasting Notes: The 2024 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars ‘Winemaker Series Lot No. 1’ Cabernet Sauvignon stands inky in the glass. A wine club only wine, this beauty was stored for 20 months in all new French oak before bottling. Sweet pipe tobacco and creme de cassis notes combine with pencil lead and sandalwood notes on the nose. The palate is refined and soft wth silky tannins that frame a core of decadent black fruits, with espresso bean and loamy soil notes. Full-bodied, be sure to give this several hours of air if savoring now.
