The Meadows. This is a new vineyard-designated offering from 100% Hanzell selection grown in a lowland meadow contiguous to the Santa Rosa Creek. It is dry-farmed each year and requires extensive shoot and crop thinning due to the extremely fertile conditions. The result is the most fruit-forward of our Chardonnays, with underlying tropical flavors.

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Chardonnay The Meadows is laced with hints of tropical fruit, mint, lemon confit, spice and butter. Soft and open-knit, with lovely depth, the Meadows is another impeccable wine from Stephen Hansel. Light tropical inflections linger nicely.

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Chardonnay The Meadows Vineyard comes from the lowest section of the ranch, approximately five acres of dry-farmed vineyard land with more alluvial soils[.] A ripe yellow color, with aromas of ginger, honeyed citrus, baked pear, and oak spice, it’s full-bodied, toasty, and ripe on the palate, with notes of almond through the finish. It closes with a ripe feel and has a good finish, with notes of toasty oak spice lasting on the back palate. It is a savory wine with a good deal of decadence to drink over the next 5-6 years. [...]
