Situated on the right bank of the Rhone, the vines are 35 years old and planted in a flat granite arena facing southeast, bringing freshness to the wine.
Winemaking
Hand-harvested with rigorous plot selection. Vinification in wooden vats with 2 punchings of the cap and pumping over per day. Long maceration for 4 weeks.
Aging
24 months in 228-L oak barrels (50% new barrels).
Tasting Notes
To the eye, a dark red color. Full-bodied and complex, with a lingering tannic finish. Its bouquet develops into truffles, cooked fruit, and licorice after 5 years.

Tasting Notes: The 2020 Cornas is a brooding, muscular expression, brimming with intensity and raw energy. Aromatically, it’s a captivating mix of black olive, smoked meat, crushed violets, and blackberry compote, all laced with a touch of iron and cracked pepper. On the palate, it’s dense and tightly coiled, with firm tannins and a dark core of fruit that slowly unfurls to reveal notes of graphite, olive, and garrigue wrapped in dark berries. There’s a wonderful sense of precision that speaks to careful craftsmanship. Still young and built for the long haul, the 2020 Cornas is a wine of impressive depth and age-worthy structure.

Tasting Notes: Brought up in 50% new oak, the 2020 Cornas showed beautifully, with a ripe, round, mouth-filling style as well as classic meaty red and black fruits, peppery herbs, bouquet garni, and gamey nuances. This deep, concentrated, layered Cornas will evolve for 10-15 years. It’s an impressive wine.

Tasting Notes: Inky ruby. Deeply pitched black and blue fruits on the brooding nose, along with suggestions of olive, pipe tobacco and licorice. Offers concentrated cassis and bitter cherry flavors, along with a spicy suggestion of cracked pepper. Broad, chewy tannins frame the persistent finish, which echoes the tobacco and cherry notes. This wine acts a lot like a 2019 or a 2018; give it some time.
