Famille Gagey Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Boudots Premier Cru
Source
The wines of Nuits-Saint-Georges are produced in two villages: Nuits-Saint-Georges and Premeaux-Prissey. The Les Boudots vineyards border the Premier Cru vineyards of Vosne-Romanee, at the northern edge of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. It is located next to Vosne-Romanee Les Malconsorts.
Vintage
Winter 2021-2022 alternated between mild periods and colder temperatures. It was more or less dry. During the second half of March, spring set in. Conditions were stable during the early part of April, and then temperatures dipped with several nights of frost between the 3rd and the 10th, but conditions remained dry. Temperatures in April were slightly above the norm, but it wasn't until May that the weather became very hot. We had some rain, and this accelerated the growth cycle, with flowering taking place in the last half of the month. June remained hot, but there was considerable rainfall. Veraison began during the first ten days of July in some of the earliest sectors, but we saw no rainfall in the vineyards that month. During summer, the region was hit with no fewer than four heatwaves, but the vines coped well and didn't show the same signs of suffering. With temperatures reaching above 34 degrees C and a lack of water, the vines 'closed down' and ripening halted. The cycle stretched out a bit, and as a result, harvest was later than expected. The nights were warm between the 15th and 20th of August, and blocked ripening even further. Finally, a few thundery showers traveled through the Cote, bringing with them a sense of real change. Harvest began on the 30th of August.
Production
Grapes are harvested by hand and put in small cases to avoid damaging the fruit. Grapes are pressed softly and fermented in oak barrels produced by the CADUS cooperage. 1/3 are new barrels. Aging usually lasts 15 months on fine lees before bottling.

Tasting Notes: Enticing aromas of rose, cherry, strawberry, earth and black pepper introduce this silky red. Beautifully balanced and delineated, with a vibrant feel and refined tannins through the lingering, multidimensional aftertaste, which offers a smoky accent. Best from 2028 through 2045.

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots ([...] Gagey) has turned out very nicely, wafting from the glass with aromas of plums, red berries, orange zest and baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it's supple and suave, with melting tannins and a saline finish.

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru conveys a sense of Pinote on the very endearing nose - one of the most "transparent" amongst Jadot's wines in the Cote de Nuits. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red fruit and gentle grip. It’s a voluminous Les Boudots with raspberry, white pepper and bay leaf towards the finish, leaving the tongue tingling. Classy.

Tasting Notes: Cask sample. Pale ruby. Already there seems to be some evolution here. Gentle and very fruity. Easy to like but with sufficient acidity. Very light tannins. I could almost drink this tonight. Hint of coffee but not over-oaked. Long.
