La Pietra Chardonnay di Toscana IGT 2022
Winemaker's Note
1983 was the first vintage of La Pietra. La Pietra's Chardonnay grapes come from high-elevation vineyards (1,476 feet) that produce grapes with cool-climate freshness and balancing acidity. The handpicked fruit is gently pressed before a period of cold settling. The Chardonnay must is fermented in oak barrels, then aged on the fine lees with periodic stirring to enrich the wine's aromas and flavors. The wine spends a minimum of six months in bottle before release. The word pietra means stone.
Harvest Note
The 2022 wine harvest in Tuscany was marked by extreme heat and drought, resulting in lower yields but concentrated, high-quality grapes. Occasional late-season rains helped balance ripeness, preserving acidity and freshness in the wines. Winemakers noted that the vintage produced bold, well-structured wines with rich aromas and excellent aging potential.
Tasting Note
Notes of chamomile and dried tea, honey, sage, citron, and lemon peel. Rich, fresh, sweet with toasted notes.

Tasting Notes: A restrained and subtle wine with candied lemon, melon and slightly floral aromas. The attack is dry and silky with weight, a medium body and long, crisp acidity reminiscent of orange blossoms. Tense aftertaste. Drink or hold.
